Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Katie. Katie was a stray who was found by a wonderful family in the Riverside area. Katie had a microchip in place, but when the shelter contacted the previous owner, a breeder in Beverly Hills, they found that they were not interested in coming to claim Katie. Our best guess for this reason can only be because Katie has a common issue involved with Bostons called luxating patella. In other words, her back knee joint pops out of place. This is quite easily corrected with surgery, but the surgery is very expensive, so apparently the previous owner decided rather than spend the money to correct it, they would just relinquish her to the streets or shelter.
How lucky for Katie and for the family who will be her forever companions. This little girl has the most stunning brindle coat we have seen, and it is so soft it feels like velvet. Katie is still puppy-like in her energy and loves to run, play, and especially loves tug of war and chasing balls. The challange will be keeping her confined and off her leg for the 4 to 6 weeks following her surgery, which will be done in early Feb. Katie is quite loving and loves to sunggle up on the couch with her foster family. She enjoys playing with the very submissive male in the foster home, but will not tolerate other females, or dominant males. Katie will give kisses and play with cats. She walks well on leash and is a good car rider. Katie's one problem she is still working on is consistent pottying outside, and we are hoping that this may be due to the fact that she is currently in a foster home without a doggy door, which she may have been used to in the past. She tries to make to the outside, but is not always successful. So someone who is willing to work on consistency with this will be great. She is such a funny and loving little girl it is hard to imagine someone would abandon her just because of a common medical problem that is easily fixed.
