My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

7/10/14 - I'VE BEEN ADOPTED!

Adoption Fee: $350

Fostered in Louisiana

Age: 5 years

Weight: 8.3 lbs.

4/1/14 - It has now been 1 month since Tori’s Liver Shunt surgery and she is doing great. Her dental for yesterday was cancelled as the vet did not want to perform a dental until more time had passed after her surgery. So we will wait on that.

She is currently eating Royal Canin Hepatic and loves to eat and cleans her bowl. She does seem to like her space when she is eating. If you hover over her, she will take a bite, go a few feet away, eat it and come back. But if you just put her food down and give her space, she will finish up in no time.

She is a happy little girl and is doing really well with her potty training when brought out regularly. She is still on Lactulose medicine since her surgery and will continue with this until the end of May when she will go for her bile acid recheck.

She does love to cuddle and snuggle and would love to sleep with her new parents, but steps or benches will have to be available for her to get up and down, because she has no fear and will try to jump off the bed without help or waiting to be put up and down.

She does not seem to understand toys. Probably has never had any and will take a while to learn that they are hers and for fun.

She is not a fan of crates or confinement, so when left, she has free roam of most of the house with doors shut to rooms that she doesn’t need to visit in her foster home. I guess this sweety has lived a life of being confined and has HAD ENOUGH OF IT.

She seems to love all people, but it did take her longer to warm up to her foster dad than her foster mom. But, foster mom is home all day with her and foster dad is tall and has a deep voice. But now she wants attention from him as well as foster mom.

She will need a secure fenced yard in her new home. Even though she wants to stay right by you, the excitement to explore and keep smelling and walking could get her too far away from home if not on a leash or in a secure back yard.

She likes to give kisses, but is not obsessive with it. She is also not a very vocal pup unless she is protecting her house from the doorbell or her foster dad coming in from work late.

The groomer said she was a very good girl to groom. In fact, everyone that has met Tori has fallen in love with her. She is a sweet little baby. She smiles and loves to cuddle and is so gentle. Once she is all better and ready to go, she is going to make some lucky family very happy. We are accepting applications for her now, but it will still be at least 2 months before she goes back to the vet to recheck her bile acids. After that, she can have a dental and then she is ready for a permanent last name and parents to spoil her.

3/25/14 - Tori is doing really well from her liver shunt surgery and is scheduled to have her dental on 3/31/14. She will go back in about two months to have her bile acids rechecked, but her foster mom can tell that she is feeling great. She loves to give kisses and be loved on.

2/24/14 - Tori has an appt. for Thursday, February 27th with the surgeon at University of Tennessee to have a scintigraphy to find out what is going on with this babies liver. If it is a shunt, or anything else that requires surgery, she will be admitted then (since she has already been on the protocol of Lactulose and a low protein diet) and have surgery the next day.

Please keep Tori in your prayers. She hasn’t had that great of a life thus far, but she has definitely landed in the right hands and will be taken care of from here on out.

2/27/14 - Tori had her appointment at UT today and they did testing which came back supportive of a shunt so Tori was admitted today and will have surgery tomorrow. We will update as soon as we hear how she does.

2/28/14 - Tori just got out of surgery and is resting comfortably. She also had a hernia that was repaired while she was under. She will be released from the hospital on Monday to go back to her foster home.

3/3/14 - Tori was released today and is at her foster home relaxing comfortably. She will get her stitches out in two weeks and then have a much needed dental in a month. Her bile acids will be run again in 3 months to see if all is repairing itself correctly.
