I'm a really lucky boy. You see, my family moved off and left me in a pen. I waited for them to come back but they never did. So when my foster mom came to get me, I surprised her by sneaking up behind her. Boy you shoulda seen the look on her face! Like she was a chicken nugget or somethin'. I am pretty healthy but I have a few things that are a little different. I have big paws that are dysplastic because I had to stand on a wire floor in my too small crate as a pup. I do have hip dysplasia but I don't have any problems getting up and around. I don't jump so you don't have to worry about being tackled. I did test positive for heartworm but I'm half-way through my treatment and I'm doing great! I love to go for gentle walks and I promise not to pull you. My big sister Kali will be happy to do that. I am very mellow and content to just hang out with you. OK, so does anyone want a cute hunky boy hanging around your place? Wouldn't you love to have a gorgeous plush coat red boy? Did I mention I love to get tummy rubs, snuggle, and I will lean on you and rub against you like a cat? Just part of my charm, baby! If you would like to know more about me, you can contact my foster mom, Cathy, at 870-892-4572 or cathyburge@suddenlink.net She will be happy to talk to you! OK, gotta go. I smell chicken!*********************************HERE IS A NOTE FROM LUKE'S FOSTER MOM CATHY********** Luke is neutered, UTD on shots, and is currently undergoing HW treatment. He had his first injection 31 December and will receive the second one 28 January and third one 29 January. He is housebroken and learned to use the doggie door. He enjoys going for car rides and LOVES Sonic ice cream. He may not be good around little dogs because he gets a little rambunctious when he plays and his big paws could be a problem. He would probably do best in a home without small children due to his size. He is good with people. He does not care for male dogs but plays well with my 3 female shepherds. Luke is not a dominant dog and is submissive to my big girl Kali. He is a little cautious when meeting any new dog, but with the proper introduction, he does pretty well. Luke enjoys swimming in ponds and loves the companionship of horses. Luke would probably do best in a quiet home. Please feel free to contact me if you have any more questions. Luke is an awesome boy and will make the perfect companion for the right family.

WHY do we rescue? CLICK HERE to find out!
As of January 9, 2008, the balance on our vet bill is $5,722.68. This is JUST our primary vet bill, and does not include other daily expenses, as well as additional medical bills for some of our dogs who need to see specialists (for example, orthopedic surgeries). These costs are mounting daily, as we are always testing, spaying/neutering and heartworm treating new dogs as they come into rescue. Our adoption fee of $250 is the ONLY funding source we have, and it doesn't go very far when some of our rescues have bills of $1000+. Please help us continue to help them. Tax deductible donations an be made by clicking the following link, or by snail mail to:
MSSR, P.O. Box 542, Nesbit, MS 38651. NO amount is too small. If you think you can't make a difference, think again!
