Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Peekaboo comes to us from Levy County Animal Shelter, where she found herself after being picked up as a stray. We owe special thanks to Susan Benson of Williston Animal Group for pulling and transporting this sweet baby to us.
The shelter described Peekaboo as a Jack Russell Terrier, but we see more Rat Terrier in her. She's very finely built with long legs and semi-prick ears, weighs approximately 12 lbs., and is estimated to be 3-4 years old. Peekaboo is completely white except for the brown-and-black patch you see over her brown eye. She's very sweet and loving, but somewhat shy, especially when the camera comes out. We've managed to capture a few photos with her adorable ears pricked. You be the judge -- we think she's absolutely precious with her different colored eyes!
Peekaboo is good with other dogs (although she'd prefer to be the star of her own show), crate-trained, and appears to be housebroken. She'd probably do better in a home without cats as she will give chase if something moves quickly (it's the terrier in her). She prefers not to walk on the leash, so we've been working on that and she's gotten better. Peekaboo loves loves loves people. Big people, little people, old people, young people, men, women, children -- it doesn't matter. She is somewhat anxious and nervous in new situations, but it's not a fearful-I'm-going-to-nip-s omeone kind of anxious at all. No! She just wants to be held and reassured. We think Peekaboo would do best in a quieter situation -- kids are fine, she loves them! -- where she is the center of attention and her family is home much of the time. If you're retired or work from home and are looking for a loving, devoted companion, Peekaboo's your girl!
Peekaboo is currently being fostered in the Ocala area. Her adoption fee is $250, and includes worming, vaccinations, microchip, and spay. You can view additional photos of Peekaboo in her Facebook photo album: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.615330958532302.1073741854.261332170598851&type=3
If you think you would like to give this sweet girl a forever home, please e-mail LovingLifeRescue@gmail.com with the following information. We do not have an adoption application but instead rely upon an interview process. At a minimum, please share such things as where you live, your household composition (how many children and what ages), your yard setup and/or exercise plan, pets you have and/or had, what happened to those pets, what flea/heartworm medication you used on former pets, your work schedule and amount of time the dog would be alone, if you rent do you have landlord approval, what you are looking for in a dog, etc. The more information the merrier. And there are no "right" answers. Honest! Please include a phone number at which you may be reached, as well as vet references that we may check should you be chosen once the initial application process is complete.
Please note: We do not adopt on a first-come-first-served basis, but rather choose what we think is the best match of adopter and dog based on each dog's unique personality and needs.
Thank you for considering a rescue dog as your next canine companion! ♥
