Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Brock is a 7 month old standard red smooth male puppy. He was purchased by people as a "gift" for their grandchildren. When this did not work out, they were stuck with him--and planning to "get rid of him" by taking him to the animal shelter. Luckily, a wonderful Good Samaritan intervened and prevented this by taking him into her home. She had hoped initially to keep him, but his energy level was too much for the senior dachshunds already living in the room. So she contacted us for help, and we were glad to accept this wonderful dachshund into our rescue program. Thanks to her willingness to get involved, this wonderful dog was saved.
Brock will be neutered and microchipped this week. He has one more set of shots to complete. He is an active, fun-loving and affectionate dachshund who gets along well with other small dogs. Because of his activity level, the other dogs in his new home should be young or middle aged. Brock is a handsome fellow who currently weighs about 13 pounds and most likely will continue to grow and be a small standard sized dachshund once he reaches adulthood.
Can you give Brock a loving, permanent home with lots of attention? If so, read the rest of the information below and then contact us for an adoption application. Please be aware that our adoption applications are sent out by postal mail only, and are not sent by e-mail nor are they available on-line.
UPDATE 2/7: Did you notice in Brock's photos that he has a little patch of darker fur on his forehead - and it's in the shape of a heart?! We think it's a sign - Brock wants to be YOUR Valentine!
UPDATE 2/5: Brock gets a glowing report from his foster family! "Brock is a wonderful little guy - very loving and he's a great kisser. He is not timid at all and loves his human family. He has learned to use the doggy doors and his housetraining is coming along very well. He gets very excited when we get home from work because that means it's play time!"
"Brock loves all his foster siblings but he especially loves Flynn! He and Flynn love to play and race all around the house. They play tug of war and Brock will pull Flynn around the room. Of course they both want to play with the same toy! Brock likes to know what's going on with everyone so he's constantly on the go."
"Brock was a perfect gentleman with our recent house guests. He is a sweet little boy he sleeps all night and doesn't put up a fuss when in his crate. He is very polite, loves burrowing under his covers, and he likes to sleep on his back with his feet up in the air. Brock also loves to thrash around in the chair to scratch his back."
"Brock is learning to help with the chores around the house. He helps unmake the bed and unfold the clothes when they come out of the dryer. He knows how to empty the toy box - now he just needs to learn how to put the toys back! And he likes to hit the CAPS LOCK key on my laptop when he sits in my lap as I type."
