Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Banjo Girl is a fabulous 2 year old blue merle lady with soulful eyes and a tail that’s constantly wagging. And while she’s probably not an Aussie, we’ve given her ‘honorary Aussie’ status and pulled her into rescue anyways because we could not stand to see a dog as kind-hearted as Banjo languish in a shelter kennel. Our best guess as to her breed is Catahoula Leopard Dog crossed with who knows what! How’s that for a breed I.D.?
Banjo is still quite young but already during her time in rescue, she has mellowed out into a medium energy, fun loving girl. She really enjoys going for walks and hikes and loves her visits to the dog park! Banjo gets along great with most other dogs and will play all day long if you let her. She is not, however, the rough and tumble type so she would best be matched up with another dog with similar play/energy styles.
Banjo’s favorite game in the world is tug with her rope toys, and in her down time she’s happy to find a stick to retrieve for you or to chew on. She will eagerly work for food, too, so training her is not terribly difficult so long as you show up with a supply of patience and cookies!
Banjo really loves kids of all ages and is very gentle with them. She knows that she’s not supposed to jump up on them and acts very appropriate. This sweet dog even plays nicely with the cats that are in her foster home! Banjo must have a slight streak of hunter in her, because she loves chasing birds and has even scared up some pheasants in her day! She is generally a quiet dog, but when she gets excited she might ‘talk’ at you, and if somebody comes around that she’s not sure of, she will sound the alarm so you know it too!
If you have been looking for an even tempered, ready-made companion to add to your family, Banjo Girl may be just the girl you’ve been searching for. She’s the perfect size at around 35lbs. She’s affectionate enough to curl up with you for a movie and loves to be petted and scratched, but she’s also independent enough that she doesn’t need to be ‘all up in your biz’ at all times.
Banjo Girl has been spayed, microchipped, heartworm tested and is up to date on her vaccinations. She’s housebroken and great in the car, and she’s fostering in Owatonna, Minnesota.
