Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Jazzy was rescued from Maricopa County's Animal Care and Control. She is truly amazing with an excellent temperament and loves all people. She should have an experienced bully breed adopter and be the only dog in her Forever Home, UNLESS you are an adopter who understands her breed and pack mentality (see notes below). She is housebroken and crate trained. Text us to meet her. Her adoption fee is $150.00 which includes her spay, micro-chip/ and registration. Jazzy will be available for adoption at Pet Food Depot (Cave Creek & Grovers) this Saturday, September 13th from noon-4. You can also contact her foster dad, Todd @ 480-274-9942
***notes about humanizing dogs*****
HUMANIZING DOGS: When adopted into a human family, dogs see humans as their pack. This is fact. If their owners do not set down strict rules, your dog will assert himself or herself as the leader. This leads to bad behavior, hyperactivity – and even AGGRESSION. With Bully Breeds this is NO JOKE. It is dangerous and irresponsible.
Humanizing is a result of many different things, but when you treat your dog as if he were another person, with human emotions, and human thought – then you have humanized your dog.
Instinctively, dogs will take advantage of any situation that will benefit them without ever feeling guilty about it because GUILT is a human emotion.
Separation anxiety can also be blamed on a shift in the leader and follower dynamic. In a pack, the leader is allowed to leave. When you are the leader of the pack, your dog will accept that. If you are thought of as the follower in your dog’s pack, they will act out if you try to leave.
Another form of humanizing your dog is to allow them to eat human food. A dog does not have the digestive system of a human. They need different nutrients than people, which is why prolonged exposure to human food can cause health problems. Dog eats to survive. It’s in their genetic makeup. There do not need variety.
Dogs who are treated like they are dogs are HAPPY because they understand the rules that help them know what they can and cannot do. This makes for a well-behaved and well-trained dog.
