Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet 6 month old DUTCH, or as we lovingly sometimes call him, Sharkboy because of his adorable snout and underbite. He was the companion of a homeless individual who took care of him as best he could and even got him vaccinated. Once the owner was able to enter a homeless shelter, little Dutch was brought to us at Mount Vernon Animal Shelter. He is quiet and very well behaved in his kennel, despite all the barking and chaos around him and this was the first thing that caught the trainers attention...as did the happy go lucky manner with which he passed all the other dogs as if to say, “Hey guys, my name is Dutch, what’s up!” He passed his professional evaluation with flying colors, tolerating all handling, arousal, food/bone testing, and dog-dog interactions amazingly well and totally age appropriate. He even handled the correction of one of our seasoned females who he accidentally "play pounced," on when she was trying to sleep. When the older female gave him a snarky maternal grunt, he just hopped away...oooops.... and started playing with a tug toy by himself.
He has been starting his basic training and manners routine with some of the student trainers and he is attentive and smart and loves to learn and work for food rewards. He has some adorable puppy energy and needs some focus, as you can see in his video, but he learning fast and has so much to offer! He loves doing laps around the yard but does not go far from you: He prefers to stay close to his person, almost doing an automatic HEEL when we walk around the perimeter of the yard...possibly from his past of being sure to stick with his owner while living on the street? Whatever the reason, it is endearing as heck! He has just recently learned about toys and how darn fun they can be too which is a hoot to watch and takes care of his puppy mouth because he is a rockstar in choosing to grab a rope toy instead of your hand or arm when he is excited. He loves all the activity in our lobby just as a puppy should be socializing daily and although we are trying to give him as much attention as possible, he would really benefit from a family that could give him the continued positive training and social skills he needs at this tender age. We believe he may have never really had an “indoor” home so he will so grateful for a warm bed, some toys, and proper meals....please consider fostering or adopting this diamond in the rough and let his quirky little face be YOURS! Neutered, up to date on vaccinations, dog and cat friendly, and yes, he has a funny little face!!
