My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello there! My name is “Mercedes”, but my foster family calls me “Sadie” for short. First off, I absolutely love attention! I love to give kisses, and get petted, and would be happy doing so all day long. My foster family doesn’t know much about my previous situation, prior to being dropped off at a shelter with a male companion, but I’ve shown them signs that I didn’t get much loving, which is why I’m making up for lost time! The vet thinks I’m just a little over a year old, and in that time I’ve already had a litter of puppies. Don’t worry, that won’t happen again because the good people at Midwest BREW took care of all my medical needs, and ensured I won’t be having any more puppies.
In the couple of months I’ve been fostered I’ve learned a lot of new things that will help me in being a great companion. I had some problems at first, with getting tangled and tripped over, but I now love to go for walks and have worked out my issues with being on the leash. Now that I’ve learned and understand that we’ll be going outside for walks, or just pottie breaks, at about the same time every day, I haven’t had an accident in some time (but nobody is perfect, right? I’m trying though).
The other dogs here are great, and I love to snuggle and play with them. I’m a little girl (but I’m growing), and when they let me I like to snuggle right up next to them, or even lay on top of them to stay warm. There’s a cat here, too, who I’ve come to understand that he just does his own thing. He’s good for a sniff now and then, but other than that he’s not much fun and I just leave him alone.
Since I’m loving all the attention I’ve been getting, I don’t really discriminate between men or women, but I can be kinda shy at first (although that wears off very quickly after you pet me). Although I don't live with kids, I have been ok with them as long as they are gentle. And I think they are great to play with!
During the day, I mainly just lay with my beagle pals on the couch, until our people get home. While the other dogs get to go into the bedroom at night, I stay on the couch, as there’s no more room in bed.
I may be little, and still young, but I’m a quick lil thing and have a lot of energy! I love to tear around the yard, jump into the air, and will jump into your arms if you let me. My foster dad thinks I could be great if I played frisbee, as I’m so fast, can jump so high, and love doing both!
I would probably fit best in a home where there is another dog, with an established walk/bathroom routine, not to mention some company. Although, with the right person I may do ok alone, as long as I get the attention I need to be the great pet I know I can be.
So, that’s a little about me, whadya think? If you’d like to hear more, or even meet, contact the great people at Midwest BREW. Thanks!

A note from Sadie’s foster family:
Sadie is an absolute sweetheart, without a mean bone in her body. She had a tough start, and seemingly lacked sufficient human interaction, and as a result, absolutely craves human attention and affection. She is a “Velcro” dog, and likes to be right next to, on top of, or as close to her chosen people (or k9 friends, too) as possible. In households with other dogs, she does everything she can to gain as much of the attention as possible, including nosing her way in front of another dog being petted, etc. As eager as she is in gaining attention, she’s seemingly just as eager to learn. In our attempts at house and leash training her, she’s done quite well. She will definitely need further training, and formal training would likely be the most rewarding, for both her and the potential owner. As fosterers, we are very excited at the prospect of Sadie finding h
