My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Gertrude, a peppy 8 year old, 8lb, maltese girl. She is just a clown! She gets along very well with other dogs and cats. She is a people pleaser and loves to be snuggly. Gertrude was a long time mama from a puppy mill and lived her entire life having babies and living in a wire crate. When her breeder decided she was too old to breed anymore, she was dumped at a high kill shelter along with 7 other maltese mamas. Gertrude was not rescued right away, though because she has a high level heart murmer and a congestive heart condition for which she takes medication twice a day to keep her from retaining fluid around her heart. Her breeder had her vocal chords cut so Gertie cannot bark. Little Gertie probably wont live as long as other malteses, but she is spunky, spry and has a great deal of life left in her. This little clown has had a complete dental cleaning with some bad teeth being extracted and has been spayed. She has “cherry eye” but this condition is cosmetic and not necessary to correct given her age and heart condition. She is current on all vaccines including rabies and is microchipped.
