Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Call me "Taco", call me "Enchilada", just don't call me late for dinner!! Aren't I about the cutest little guy you've ever seen!? I'm a chihuahua mix, about 2 years old, male. I was rescued from a high kill shelter in Kentucky. I don't know how I ended up in a place like that, I'm one of the most endearing dogs you will ever meet!
I weigh about 6 pounds right now, but I am a little thin from getting sick after spending time in that awful shelter. I am all better now and am starting to fill out!
My foster mom says I am "housebroken." I really don't know what that means but I would like to plead "not guilty!" cause I've never broken anything in the house! In fact, I have really good doggie manners and behave wonderfully in the house!
If you are looking for a lapdog, well, you have come to the right place! My most FAVORITE place to be is in a human lap!! I LOVE to snuggle and I LOVE to be held! In fact, when I want to be held, I will stand in front of you and jump up and down like a Mexican jumping bean until you pick me up! I also like to get up on my hind legs and put my front paws up until a human picks me me (yes, like a baby!) If you are watching t.v. or laying in bed, I like to crawl under the blanket and curl up next to my human with the blanket over my head. That seems to make everybody laugh!
I'm a lover, not a fighter, so I'm not much of a guard dog. In fact, I don't bark a whole lot like most chihuahuas do. I'm actually pretty quiet! I sleep in my crate at night and I don't make a peep. Did I mention I like to go for car rides too? I like to curl up on my human's lap during car rides while the sun beats on me and let the car lull me to sleep!
I get along great with other dogs and I pretty much ignore the cats in my foster home. I love kids too! Although, It is probably best that I do not live in a home with infants or very small children; I'm so little, they could unintentionally hurt me.
Because I love to be with my humans so much, I would love a home where my owners were home most of the day. I would be sad if I was left alone with nobody to hang with. I would do fine as an only dog or with doggie/kitty brothers and sisters. If you have any questions about me, please feel free to ask! I'm anxiously waiting to have a family of my very own. A family that will love me forever, and I promise, I will love you right back!!
Love, Taco
For more information on Taco, or for an adoption application, please email Sarah at sarahthewayhome@gmail.com . Taco's adoption donation is $125, which helps defer the cost of his vetting. Taco is fully vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, current on heartworm and flea//tick preventative, and dewormed. TWHRA is open to out of state adoptions within a reasonable distance and transport assistance is available. We are also open to foster to adopt trial periods.
