Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Candy is a creamy white, tiny Toy Poodle who weighs 4 1/2 pounds and is 8 1/2" tall. All her vet work is done and she continues to eagerly learn about living in a home and that people can be trusted not to hurt or abandon her.
Her feisty and sassy personality is starting to bloom. She will follow me around the house, will squeeze through gates to get to me, but if frightened, she will run into our bathroom. Do you think she knows about that room?
Each day, improvements are seen in her willingness to come up to people and let them pick her up for some loving. She so wants to be held and sit in someone's lap while watching TV or reading.
Candy is just fine with all our other Poodles and we are beginning to see her play and be good with them!
Yes, grooming Candy is a problem. I am slowly, gently and carefully working with her to realize that being touched, brushed, shaved and washed is a wonderful experience!
More than anything, this little girl wants to be held and loved.
Her $300.00 adoption fee helps cover just some of her Vet work including a Vet check, spay, teeth cleaned, shots all up to date, heart worm tested negative and placed on a preventative and wormed.
Also included is her kennel with blankets, a bag of dog food, treats, a supply of vitamins, a leash, collar, toys, a new doggie bed and lots of good information to help start your adoption on the right paw forward.
This is a very tiny Toy Poodle, so please, NO large dogs or small children. Your patience will also be needed as you continue to teach this little peanut how to accept love and compassion.
Candy's Story: While we were delivering Christmas “goodies” to Mikes work in Wisconsin (need to keep the boss happy, right?) we got a call from Astrid in Brooklyn Park.
She had gone to her Uncle’s mobile home to get the furniture he had left behind for her. While there, she found that they also had left their tiny Poodle named "Candy", locked in her kennel...
"About two weeks but they never took her out for walks they just kept her in the kennel or in with the other dog English bulldog. When I found her she had about 5 inches of nappy hair that I cut with scissors. She only had some of the food that had been left behind in the kennel, no water. I talked to my little cousin and they had her for 5 years."
Astrid couldn’t keep the Poodle in her apartment, but cleaned her up (pictured above) as best she could. Thank you Astrid for "rescuing" this tiny Poodle and contacting us!
Mike and I immediately took Candy to Barrington Oaks Vet Clinic in Elk River where she was kept her over-night.
The next day, X-rays were taken of her broken tail so they could safely remove the broken section (pictured - stub left). She was also spayed, micro-chipped, heartworm/Lymes test negative, teeth cleaned and some of her infected teeth were pulled.
I was able to bring her home the next evening where she rested comfortably in her soft, warm, cozy and clean new kennel.
