Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Tully came from a high kill shelter which he was not a stranger to...he had been adopted and returned when his new family decided they did not have time for him. They didn't know that returning him was a death sentence. But Rescue stepped in and Tully is now safe in a foster home. Tully is around a year old. He is crate trained and well on his way to being house broken. Tully goes off leash hiking daily and has very good recall. He is high energy when playing but settles down in his crate and is very quiet. He is pretty good with basic grooming like nail clipping. He is very eager to please. His coat is becoming more speckled as he gets older and his coloring is very much that of an English Pointer but he may have some Boxer mixed in as well. We think that he will settle down nicely with a family as he is so good about going outside and going in his crate and just needs a little structure when playing. Tully is quick to learn new tricks and would go far in obedience.
Tully is a very strong boy and has not done well with his adoptions. We recently sent him to an experienced foster who worked with him a lot and aside from learning a few more restraint when playing, he did did very well. He was required to sit when greeting people and he walks well with a gentle leader. He does well with other dogs and animals but does require an experienced owner with a strong personality to match his. He is respectful of children and seems to understand that he cannot be rough with them but he can overwhelm his owner if they are not up to the task. He is a beautiful dog and we require that anyone adopting him continue on with training. He fetches and seems very willing to learn...he would excel at something like Flyball.
Tully's adoption fee is $275 which helps cover the costs of getting him all ready for adoption. Please contact Becca at blackdogs@me.com for more info or to request an application email Dawn at BlackdogsRescue@icloud.com. Tully will be available to meet his approved adopter at one of our upcoming meet and greets in Hagerstown, MD.
