My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

OK, OK so you caught us! You're probably thinking: how in the world do you get Basset out of that tall gorgeous handsome fellow? Well your guess is as good as ours. You see I was taken to a rural MO shelter one night and left tied to the front door with a note attached to my collar. The shelter workers told the rescue people who help them that I was a Basset/Lab mix and HHBR agreed that I looked like one...well at least that picture did. Ha, joke is on everyone, because we're now pretty sure there isn't a Basset cell in my body. We did a DNA test and as we all expected I'm everything but Basset. My DNA profile says I'm Lab/American Stafford Shire Terrier/Vizla Mix. Ha say that three times fast!

But hey that doesn't mean I am anything less than great and because I'm now being fostered in a house with other Basset's I have to say their habits are rubbing off greatly on me. You know like the drooling, heck I can get that stuff coming out both sides of my mouth! And the howling, it's something I am trying hard to master all though I will never have that perfect deep Basset bay I'm getting pretty darn close! Oh and that crazy game of the Basset 500, heck my foster hound brother and I have that down pat! Now let’s just be a bit honest I have the great parts of the Labrador in me too. This includes an abundance of young glorious energy! And intelligence that holds true to my breed. I will definitely need a family that will be able to allow me to get my playtime in daily and keep up with my mental stimulation with toys, tasks and love! And I'd really prefer at least one other dog playmate in my forever home. We have little humans here too, you know the kids, and I can't get enough of these little love machines, but because sometimes I can’t hold back my excitement and can get a little rambunctious with my jumping and mouthing I would do best in a home with children over the age of 9! The cats here are great too, all though I have this tiny obsession with wanting to lick them clean and sometimes well that doesn't go over very well. I am house-trained, smart intelligent boy here! I am also crate trained and I will need to be securely placed in my crate while you have to leave me for any period of time, trust me your house will thank you for it! I am current on all vaccinations, Heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, altered and micro-chipped.
