Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Drifter & Heff - about three years old, house trained, neutered, descented. Preference will be given to a home where they do not have to be confined to a cage much or at all. Heff is a black sable and Drifter is a silver.
Heff really is a one of a kind ferret. He's got this funny little way he walks and runs. (He's named after Hugh Heffner because he's a lover and has this kind of gimpy walk.) He gets so excited about things. He loves to play with humans. He loves, loves, loves crinkle toys. He'll lie on his back with the crinkle toy between his paws and just have a good time playing. He also loves crochet toys, small tennis balls and rubber rattle balls.
Drifter is a big lover boy. He likes to be held, which is unusual for a ferret. He turns over and shows his belly to beg. He loves to play with flannel covered toys and plastic balls. He also loves to hide stuffed animals. They both like to play in the rice box and in the starch peanuts.
Heff gets excited when playing with other ferrets besides Drifter and can be aggressive when this happens. It is best if they go to a home where there are not any other ferrets. They both like to play with dogs.
Of note, Heff has an unusual habit of holding his urine for a long time. So, when he goes, it's a lot. If he gets too excited and hasn't gone for a little while, he will start peeing and can't stop. He's best in a home without young children or large dogs.
Drifter has adrenal disease. This is something most ferrets will get in their lifetime. It's when a tumor grows on the adrenal gland. This is not life threatening unless left untreated. Treatment is adrenal surgery, which should be done around June or July. Surgery is $236 at Bartow Animal Hospital in Cartersville. (The rescue will pay $75 toward the surgery.)
Heff had adrenal surgery in October '13. He should get a melatonin implant every four months to prevent the right adrenal gland from being affected. Drifter should also get implants every four months after his surgery. I normally do the implants for $40, but will do them for $30. Heff will get an implant mid-January.
Free to excellent home. There is an adoption process. They can come with a cage if needed. They do come with enough food and soup for two weeks, bedding and some Ferretone. I sell other supplies cheap, including: water bottles, litter pans, leashes, harnesses, shampoo, food, sleep sacks, hammocks, nail trimmers, Ferretone, etc.
