**Open adoption hours at the New Britain Dog Pound are 3pm-6pm on Wednesdays and 10am-12pm on Saturdays. You can also make an appointment most days to meet any of the dogs. Please call 860 223 5021 to set up a meet and greet.**
For more information on our dogs, please contact New Britain Animal Control by calling 860 223 5021 or by emailing nbdogpound@aol.com and nbshelterfriends@gmail.com.
The New Britain Pound is not a long term facility and all dogs should be considered "urgent" upon intake. This means that while there is not a specific time limit for keeping the dogs at the pound, due to space limitations we cannot keep them indefinitely. Please consider this when interested in a rescue dog. Time is of the essence.
Only cash and checks are accepted for payment of fees.
Municipal adoption fee for dogs that are spayed or neutered is $5.
Adoption fee for dogs that are not spayed or neutered is $50, which includes an Animal Population Control Program (APCP) voucher.
âTo utilize this program, a Connecticut resident must pay a $45.00 fee at the time of adoption, which entitles the adopter to a vaccination/sterilization voucher good for sixty days. The voucher provides a one-time sterilization benefit of $100.00 for a male dog, and $120.00 for a female dog plus two pre-surgical vaccinations coincident with the sterilization. In addition, adopters are required to pay for other services as specified by the veterinarian. Non-residents may adopt a pound pet and pay a $5.00 municipal fee, but are not eligible for program benefits. Pets too young or sick may be granted a medical extension by the veterinarian.â%9D
