Here's what the humans have to say about me:
So they call me the Big Red Queen. Perhaps it is because I am of a quite stately stature. I am a big boned gal with a lot of love to give. I am not your dainty little Hound Girl. I am strong both in my heart, body and soul. I am a survivor. Of what you may ask? Well, I sat in this horrific kill shelter in Lancaster, SC. Stray hold is up and the dogs are killed. That is just how it is done there. For some reason I showed up on the radar of CLHR. I was less than 40 pounds as you can see by some of the pictures in my gallery. I was covered in lice. Had hair loss, emaciated and a horrible blood count. I was full of infection and empty on food.
My will was strong and that is what got me though, that in addition to spending a few weeks at the Hospital. They fed me, cleaned me and gave me a chance at life.
I am 72 pounds and I am ready for my own home. I have to go to a home without a dominant dog. I am the Alpha and need to stay that way. We just do not want to risk an unhappy family...:)
I love my foster brother and sister. The only issue I have is food. But can you blame me? I was not fed, so now I like to eat and protect my food. Easy fix, I eat in my crate. I have no problems with my crate, I will even sleep in it if I have to. I much prefer a bed with my human, but I will take a crate if it means my forever home is waiting for me.
I am also great with cats and with children. YES, cats! I am in a foster home with Cats and they do not bother me at all...how about that???
My house manners are great. But most of that is up to my human. Take me out when I need to go and you will not clean a mess :) Feed me on a regular schedule and let me go outside.
I am not what CLHR would consider a beginner hound. I need to go to a home that understands my breed so I can continue growing and continue my good manner training. I am strong willed and will run your house in a flat second if you let me. You know typical Hound. So if your a soft spoken sweet little southern bell that can not tell me whats up...may I suggest a Dachshund? I am not the Hound for you! I need a firm hand.
I am very receptive to correction and will even show you that I can pout if I get into trouble. I drool minimally so that is not an issue.
You are out there and I know you are looking for me. Until then I will be right here waiting for you.......
