Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Athena here. I am a Double Dapple Dachshund Mix. The Greeder was experimenting with Teacup White Chi's and Mini Double Dapple Dachshunds and I am one of the Babies. The rest of my family was rescued as a whole group but my blind and deaf sister and I were left behind.
Both of us are now in rescue as well and I am looking for my new home. I am the product of careless breeding that should really be against the law. But until they stop making money on us this will never end. Until the laws change this will never end.
Athena has microphthalmia in one of her eyes and her other eye her pupil stays dilated so she is highly sensitive to bright light or flashing light. She can see shadows up to 2 feet in front of her with one eye only.
She is not deaf and can hear a pin drop in the room next door. She has a keen sense of direction and a sharp memory. She can remember where the furniture is and once comfortable run like the wind. With that in mind it is important not to move stuff around or she will run into it full force until she gets used to the new lay out of the house.
Due to her sight loss we are not placing her into a home with children and will only place her into a home with one adult home. Either working from home or part time employed only. Athena does not like to be alone. She has been abandoned enough and we want to place her into a home with almost constant companionship.
Athena loves other animals and flourishes in their company. So it is best if you have a companion for her that she can share her love with. She loves people and loves to be held. But she also loves to play with other dogs. In order for her life to be as full and enjoyable as possible she will need both human and fur companions and family.
Athena will not be shipped or flown unless the adopter is able to pick her up and fly with her to her new home! She will not go on any type of transport. The Adopter will have to come to South Carolina to pick her up or make arrangements with us to bring her to them.
