Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Flea was tethered with a piece of string to a fence and left there until someone took pity and called the local shelter. The staff crated him and placed him in a hallway, where at first we though the was just another scared black dog huddled in a corner. It was only when we took him out to walk and assess him that we saw what condition he was in. Best Bullies and two other volunteers tried to help him on the street but his extreme emaciation was compounded by a severe infestation of fleas, and it was clear this dog needed more than the shelter could provide. We were able to get him to our veterinarian almost within the hour.
The good news is that the vet believes he made a full recovery - after blood work, he was determined to have anemia and low proteins, which is 100% improved now. All the staff at the vets office fell in love with him. That doesn't surprise us, because what you can't really see in the photographs is that he is always wagging his tail. Flea is now completely healthy and loving life. He is currently in foster and is housetrained and very well behaved, so well behaved that he has free run of the nouse when no one is home.
