How big do Pointers get?
Pointers are medium to large-sized dogs. According to the American Kennel Club breed standard, female Pointers should weigh 44 to 65 pounds and stand 23 to 26 inches tall at the shoulders while males should weigh in at 55 to 75 pounds and reach 28 to 28 inches tall. Their mature size is comparable to that of similar breeds, such as the German Shorthaired Pointer and English Setter. They tend to be smaller than Weimaraners (55 to 90 pounds) and larger than Brittanys (30 to 40 pounds).
In addition to genetics, other factors can influence the full size your Pointer reaches, including if they are male or female, their diet throughout development, and environmental factors that can affect stress levels and metabolic rates.
