How big do American Foxhounds get?

American Foxhounds are large-breed dogs. Males typically stand between 22 to 25 inches tall at the shoulder and weigh 65 to 70 pounds. Females are slightly smaller, ranging from 21 to 24 inches at the shoulder and weighing 60 to 65 pounds. Compared to closely related hound breeds, the American Foxhound has a weight range most similar to the Treeing Walker Coonhound and English Foxhound. 

Several factors influence how big an American Foxhound can get, including genetics, diet, and exercise. Genetics play a major role, with the dog’s size largely determined by the size of their parents and ancestors. A balanced diet and proper nutrition during the puppy years are crucial for healthy growth.
