Do Komondors hair naturally dread?
Yes, the Komondor’s hair naturally forms dreadlocks, or cords, as they mature. This unique coat feature is one of the breed’s most distinctive characteristics. Komondors puppies have soft, fluffy coats. Around eight to 12 months of age, the soft undercoat and coarse outer coat start to intertwine, creating mats that eventually form the cords. These cords develop naturally without the need for braiding or manipulation, although they do require human assistance to properly form and maintain.
