Scottish Terrier Rescue of Florida

Dog rescue in Largo, FL

We are a breed specific rescue for Scottish Terriers and cover the entire state of Florida. We do not have a shelter, but we have foster homes throughout the state. All fosters are vetted the same as adopters. Dogs are usually placed in a foster home for at least two weeks. During that time, we provide all vet care/treatment and evaluate their behavior. The foster's input is key when placing a dog in a new home. All of our money is spent on the dogs - no volunteers are paid. The majority of our Scotties are owner surrenders for various reasons. We felt there was a need for a rescue in Florida to help rehome these dogs.Scotties aren't for everyone, so we prefer our applicants have previous experience with the breed. We all do what we do out of love for our Scotties!

Additional adoption info

Applicants must complete an extensive application to begin the process. Applications are reviewed, the applicants are interviewed via phone, vet and personal references are checked. A home visit is the final step in the approval process. Approved applicants are placed on a waiting list. We do not adopt on a 'first come, first serve" basis. We find the best fit for the dog. Our standard adoption fee is $450, but may be reduced because of the dog's age, physical condition, behavior, etc. All of our adopters complete an Adoption Agreement that outlines our expectations and specifies the dog be returned to us if things don't work out.
