ACT OF LOVE RESCUE (ALR), founded in February, 2016, is a federally tax exempt charitable nonprofit corporation headquartered in Norco, California, which provides a home for many small dogs (mostly Chihuahuas) that have been at risk for sheltering and ultimately, euthanasia.
As a small charity, our Founder and President, Cheryl Chavez has personally financed and invested tens-of-thousands of dollars over the past several years to transform her residential property in the agriculturally zoned area of Norco into a home for over twenty-five (25) dogs, several horses, and goats. Thus, requiring much food, medicine, and maintenance for a small farm.
With a successful permanent home adoption being the primary goal at ALR, we have several dogs now living and learning to be well-behaved domesticated pets after surviving an early life of abuse and neglect.
Our approach at Act of Love Rescue (ALR) is to rescue on the basis of "quality of life", and not the quantity of dogs. Thus, we're able to dedicate a reasonable level of attention and rehabilitation as they integrate, and share love with their new families.
All ALR dogs get a fresh, new start on their life. Our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped with registration, up to date on all vaccines, dental needs, flea treated, and groomed as well. We teach them house manners, potty training, and socialization, but also work on various behavioral issues such as biting, food aggression, digging, chewing, and others.
It is our goal to identify the absolute best matched families for our dogs, and to always educate, even when interacting with non-adopting families.
