Yellow Rose Animal rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2014 by co-founders Kristen Partee and Angie Mims. Based in Big Spring, Texas, our single purpose is to rescue and re-home as many abandoned and at risk dogs from the west Texas region as possible.
Originally formed as a foster based rescue in Big Spring, Yellow Rose has experienced much growth and success in the last two and a half years. In early 2015 Yellow Rose Animal Rescue participated in our first interstate transport, from that single transport our volunteer base grew very quickly. We now have a strong presence of volunteers across Texas, into the Carolinas and the north eastern states. We also learned from that transport that there is a shortage of adoptable dogs in the north eastern US and an abundance of wonderful families waiting to give these rescue dogs a loving forever home.
With the enormous overpopulation problem in Texas and millions of dogs being euthanized each year in the US and with no end in sight, the decision was clear, we had to do our part to save the dogs of west Texas and fill a need in the north east.
Along with our sister rescues, The Happy Day Humane Society , also located in Big Spring, Texas and Cassie's Place in San Angelo, Texas, we have expanded our rescue to serve the north east. Together, armed with the knowledge that millions of dogs will be euthanized, and families are waiting for a best friend, combined with the desire, passion and dedication of our volunteer's, grew a program with the purpose of saving lives by transporting dogs into the New England states to these waiting families.
Yellow Rose Animal Rescue takes great pride in providing exceptional care for our dogs. Before leaving the state of Texas all dogs undergo a thorough physical evaluation by a veterinarian and given the care that they need to live a long and happy life. These services include but are not limited to the following:
Spay / Neuter
Rabies Vaccine
DHPPC
Fecal testing - must be negative.
4DX bloodwork - testing for tick bourne diseases.
Heart worm tested - negative - All dogs must test negative for heart worm prior to transport. If a dog should test positive for heart worm , that dog will be placed in a foster home for the duration of treatment. Proper treatment wil be given and the dog will make the journey New England once treatment is completed and heart worm test is negative.
Dental cleanings - if necessary.
Microchipped
Interstate Health Certificate - required by law for interstate travel.
All dogs leaving Texas travel to New England on paid USDA licensed transport and by law are required to be quarantined upon arrival for a period of 48 hours.
