We are an Omaha-based non-profit 501(c)3 organization, made up of dedicated volunteers working toward the common goal of finding loving, forever homes for dogs who have been displaced through no fault of their own. We are funded completely by adoption donations and donations from private individuals, and your support is vital to our continuing effort to rescue homeless dogs throughout the Midwest.
Our organization does not have a shelter or facility, but places each dog in the foster care of one of our volunteers. Our volunteers all have careers, families, and pets of their own to care for but somehow find the time to care for and rehabilitate the rescue dogs in their care. Rehabilitation includes housebreaking, crate and leash training in addition to working with dogs to correct undesirable behavior. We address and care for any physical needs a rescue dog may have, working closely with our veterinarian determine the best treatment plan for each dog.
The dogs in our care come from a variety of situations, from strays who found themselves in shelters, to owners who can no longer keep their dogs. Some of our dogs come from mass breeding facilities. We also take in dogs from area shelters who need special foster care or emergency rescue. Our dogs are given a thorough veterinary examination and all necessary vaccinations. The dogs are spayed or neutered, tested for heartworms, given a dental examination, and put on preventive heartworm and flea/tick medication.
Our mission is to "act in the best interest of the animal". That means we don't adopt to everyone.

ADOPTION APPLICATION
Our rescue organization requires a completed adoption application with three personal references, a veterinary reference, as well as a home visit to be considered to adopt one of our rescue dogs. The suggested adoption donation will vary for each dog depending upon the costs our group has incurred, and the age and health condition of the dog. As our dogs are in private foster homes, visitation is usually not permissable unless you have been approved to adopt. Our prime directive is to "act in the best interest of the animal". That means we don't adopt to everyone.
All dogs rescued by Little White Dog Rescue are given a thorough veterinary examination and all necessary vaccinations. Our dogs are spayed and neutered (unless age dictates otherwise), are tested for heartworms, and undergo a dental examination. Medications for fleas/ticks and heartworms are provided on a regular basis. Adoption fees are based on the age of the dog. An adoption contract is required to be signed.
