Lap Dog Rescue of New Mexico is a volunteer only, foster based non-profit. We have been in existence since the mid 1990's and received our non-profit status in 2001. Since then, LDRNM has saved thousands of New Mexico's shelter and wanted dogs. We operate strictly through donations. LDRNM has been recognized as a top non-profit in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 by www.GreatNonProfits.org and is a Readers Choice Best Non-Profit by the Albuquerque Journal in 2014. Lap Dog Rescue of New Mexico is a 501c3 non-profit organization. We are NOT a shelter. We are a network of caring foster homes where our dogs are temporarily 'rehomed' and socialized. These small companion rescued dogs are only placed in homes where they will be accepted as part of the adopting family. Our dogs do not live in kennels. These dogs come from many sources: state-wide animal shelters, private homes, and actual rescues from dangerous or abusive situations. For more than a decade Lap Dog Rescue of NM has saved thousands of NM shelter dogs. We work collaboratively with shelters and rescues all over New Mexico. We adopt out to qualified individuals in NM, southern CO, and west Texas.
