Friends of Cumberland County Animal Control serves as a liaison between the county's public animal shelter (aka "pound") and the public. We network homeless pets in the shelter to facilitate adoption and transfer to rescues. We attend adoption events, and we spay and neuter as many shelter pets as possible prior to adoption.
We started this group in January 2014. The euthanasia rate went from 54% in 2013 to 19% in 2014. We have taken two dogs and five kittens into foster in 2015 to avoid their euthanasia. FOCCAC is continuing to grow itself, and our networking the animals of Cumberland County Animal Control is saving lives.
