Oliver's House Rescue

Dog rescue in East Windsor, CT

The situation in Houston Texas, is heartbreaking. There are over 1 million homeless dogs in this area alone. We work with dedicated volunteers in Houston to pull unwanted death row dogs from high kill shelters. The situation these dogs are in, are no fault of their own.The culture in this area is unlike what we see in the Northeast. Most dogs are not spayed or neutered and allowed to run free. They are turned in to shelters or just dropped off in a rural area for reasons most would not dream of... could be too old, chews too much, got too big, barks too much all which are "fixable". When a perfectly loving dog is surrendered by their owners or picked up off the streets, they can be euthanized in three days. Brooke's Angels Rescue is dedicated to finding homes for these "throw away" Texas dogs in the Northeast where they can get what they deserve, become loving members of a family.
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered (when old enough), HW negative, up to date on all vaccines(age appropriate) and have a veterinarians health certificate.

Additional adoption info

We strive to find the best match for both the potential adopter and our dogs. We realize this process can be frustrating for adopters. We do our best to answer emails quickly and find the best possible match between our dogs and adopters. It can be a stressful first few weeks for rescued dogs, from shelter, to foster, to transport, to foster. We do not want to add to the stress by placing the dog in a home that may not be the best fit and then returned to rescue. All potential adopters will be required to complete an adoption application. Our group will then review the application. We look for people that understand the time and monetary commitment to owning a pet for life. We will call and do vet references. If the applicant does not have prior dog experience, obedience training is a mandatory requirement. We will contact each applicant either through email or phone. We will do home visits when possible or ask that you send pictures of your home and yard) .The potential adopter and all members of the household will then have a "meet and greet". Once both adopter and Brooke's Angels Rescue, feel this is the best match for both, the applicant will need to complete an adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. This fee includes spay/neuter (when old enough), vaccines(age appropriate), health certificate and transport to the NorthEast from Texas. If your new pup is too young to be spayed, we reduce the adoption fee by the cost of the surgery based on a Friends of Animals spay/neuter certificate. You can order a low cost certificate directly though Friends of Animals at http://www.friendsofanimals.org or choose to pay the additional fees and use a vet that you are comfortable with. FOA certificates are not accepted at all vets and a list of participating vets is on their website. Brooke's Angels is not associated with Friends of Animals, but we do use them when the pups are too young to be spayed in Texas. In the case your new pup is too young to be spayed/neutered we will require a $150 deposit that will be returned to you once your new pup is spayed/neutered.

All vaccinations and medical care after adoption become the responsibility of the adoptive family.
