The Humane Society of the Upper Valley is a volunteer based organization that works to save the lives of animals in the Upper Snake River Valley. We work closely with local animal shelters and law enforcement agencies to save as many animals as possible. We offer spay and neuter assistance to aid in the fight against pet overpopulation, as well as pet food assistance to those in need. Also offered by the Humane Society of the Upper Valley is our 24 Hour message service which is checked and answered on a daily basis to offer help to people with pet-related problems. That number is (208) 681-HSUV (4788).
Additional adoption info
We have an application process where we try to ensure that the animal being placed is placed in the best home for his or her personality, temperament and activity level. We have an adoption fee for both cats and dogs. This fee includes the altering of the animal as well as health check and vaccinations. The Humane Society of the Upper Valley offers pet adoptions services to find permanent homes for animals that have been abandoned, found as strays or given up for adoption by their previous owners. We understand that sometimes a dog doesn't work out for a family or special circumstances arise that do not allow a family to keep a newly adopted pet. The Humane Society of the Upper Valley will ALWAYS take back an adopted animal. Under no circumstances should an animal adopted from us ever be given away or discarded at a local shelter. We can make sure that animal finds a new home. We also work in conjunction with several breed specific rescues to get dogs to safety. We have had our animals travel as far as Pennsylvania to find their fur-ever homes. Our adoption center is set up at the local Petsmart (located at 2410 S 25th E, Idaho Falls, Idaho) every Saturday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. All animals found at this adoption center are spayed or neutered and current on their core vaccinations. Since the Humane Society of the Upper Valley does not have a shelter, we rely solely on volunteers throughout the Snake River Valley to foster these animals and care for them at their own homes. Animals found on Adoptapet.com can be seen at Petsmart on Saturdays from 11 to 4 or by appointment with the foster parents.
