Our Mission Statement
The mission of Rocky Mountain Yorkie Rescue, located in Colorado, is to rescue Yorkie/Yorkie mixes. We are committed to educating the public, our adoptees and volunteers about the Yorkshire Terrier Breed. We pledge to provide a loving and caring environment and keep the pup safe until a forever home can be found within the Colorado area. Our focus is not finding the right pup for a home, but finding the right home for each and every pup.
Our Values
We value the lives of all pups that come into the Rocky Mountain Yorkie Rescue. We will seek out medical care to help our pups, and seek out alternative treatments if traditional treatments do not work - just as we would for our own family pups. All pups will be neutered or spayed and up to date with their shots prior to adoption.
We value our volunteers. We treat our un-paid volunteers as family and show them the same compassion and respect as we would like to receive ourselves. Without our dedicated volunteers to care for our rescued pups, there would be no Rocky Mountain Yorkie Rescue in Colorado. We are blessed to have them.
We value our donors. We consider our donors rescuers too. They help with the well being of our pups by providing for their medical care. If it weren't for our generous donors, we could not save the many Yorkies throughout Colorado that so desperately need our help. Thank you for all you do.

Additional adoption info
Adopting from our rescue requires that you complete the adoption process outlined below. It is best to be approved BEFORE you find the dog that you want so that when he or she comes along, you will be ready to adopt.
Step 1: Fill out an adoption application
Click on the Adoption Application link and fill out the application in full. Be sure to answer all questions marked with an asterisk(*) and click submit at the bottom of the page.
Step 2: Review of your application by RMYR
We will review your application to determine if it should be escalated to the next step. Since our goal is to find a safe and happy forever home for every dog, we appreciate your understanding should you be eliminated as an adoption candidate.
Step 3: Veterinary Reference Check
We will verify your veterinarian as listed on your application to ensure that your current pets are up-to-date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered (we will not place one of our dogs in a home where there is another intact animal). If you do not have a pet, we will verify that the vet you have selected exists.
Step 4: Phone or Email Interview
We will contact you directly to conduct a phone interview consisting of questions about you, your family, your home and other scenarios to determine a suitable match, if any, for your home. This typically occurs within a two to three week period of time but can happen sooner or later.
Step 5: Home Visit
The final step of the approval process is a home visit. A home visit is when a volunteer comes to your home to determine if it is safe and acceptable for a small dog. Home visits can be set up by RMYR or by you, the applicant. We will attempt to find a volunteer to conduct the home visit. This could take days, weeks or even months.
Step 6: Adopt
Once you have completed and passed the home visit, you are ready to adopt one of our dogs. It will be your responsibility to check our site on a regular basis to see what dogs we have and inquire about them when interested. When you see a dog that you think is a match, you can contact us to get more information and set up a potential meeting time/place.
