The Williams County Humane Society was established in Williams County in 1970. The building is located on County Road 13, North of Bryan. Prior to 2005 this building was only used to hold educational meetings. In 2004 a capital campaign was established to start raising funds to renovate the existing building. By July 2005 the goal was met and the building was opened to the public. Within one hour of being opened, we had seven dogs surrendered and thirty-eight cats. It become abundantly clear to the board of directors that this shelter was a much needed operating organization within Williams County. To date, The Williams County Humane Society has become a very valuable asset to our county. We house at anytime thirty plus dogs and hundreds of cats and kittens.
We have three humane officers that work with local and state law enforcement to investigate animal cruelty and neglect. We currently have one four part time employees that not only work for the shelter, but give countless hours as volunteers. We work with Job and Family Service, The Williams County Probation Department, local schools, and organizations within the community to provide needed community service hours.
We are currently funded only by donations. We receive NO county, state or federal funding.
Become a Donor - This is a great way for a local business who may have the means but not the time to help support us. We appreciate all donations no matter how small or large the amount.
