Our adoption program is just one of the services we offer our community. We believe in prevention so we run monthly Free Vaccine Clinics for the residents of Alameda and Contra Costa Counties, as well as funding low cost and free spay and neuter surgeries to low income and homeless community members. Our adoptable pets come from two sources - directly from the community as owner surrenders, or from our local partner municipal shelters.

We are based in Alameda County, California and prefer to adopt a pet to a home within a 50 mile radius but we will consider a more distant adoption in unusual circumstances. We prefer local adoptions where we can follow up if need be and where - if a return has to happen - the situation is made easier. We do not 'ship' animals outside of that area.
Additional adoption info
Our fee is usually $ 300 for dogs but may be higher for pups or if medical costs have been high on a particular pet, and $100 for kittens or cats. We encourage kitten adoptions in pairs, and may lower the adoption fee for two, in those cases.
We ask you to complete an adoption application which is available on our website www.pawfund.org. We try to have adoptions which really meet the needs of the individual pet, we encourage multi pet households as most dogs and many cats are very social and need each other. We need to feel that this is a good fit for everyone, and we are as honest as we can be about the good and not so good points of our adoptable pets. We want it to work!
