About TRK9: The Rescued K-9 is a non-profit, 501c3 accredited dog rescue organization that focuses specifically on saving dogs in their last few hours before euthanasia....dogs with no other options that are out of time.
All of our dogs are vaccinated and tested for heart worms and are spayed or neutered. Some pups come with 30 days of pet insurance and a microchip but not all. If they are not already spayed or neutered before adoption, the pup will be set up with an appointment for sterilization at no additional cost (because it is part of the adoption fee).
While we do not specialize in any particular breed, we do get in a lot of pitbulls and rottweilers because they are what end up on the euthanasia list more than any other breed!
We have a transport vehicle and we typically like to do the majority of the driving so that the adoption process is easier for our adopters and so that more people are willing to foster.
About the founder: My name is Courtney Kenny and I am the founder and the Director Of Operations for The Rescued K-9. I have been fostering for 6 years but just started my organization in June of 2014. I knew that fostering was making a difference but it did not feel like a big enough difference, so I sought out my new career and passion as a rescue organization owner and let me tell ya, nothing is more rewarding. I have never been happier than I am right now, finding these deserving angels their happily ever after. Fairy tales shouldn't just be for people!
I am a veterinary technician (an animal nurse) and over the past year I have been working with multiple trainers to work on basic obedience training and I am now equipped to do dog training as well. This will help further my abilities to get dogs adopted into good homes; as you can imagine, a dog that already knows basic commands is more desirable. I am the proud mother of 7 dogs and I have recently moved into a home with acreage on a horse ranch, providing quite a bit of country room to roam for the doggies.

In August of 2015, thanks to the support of our incredible followers, we bought a ranch in Midlothian, Texas (about 30 minutes south of Downtown Dallas). We also have been blessed with some incredible fosters willing to give these angels a second chance in a home environment until they are ready to go to their new furrrever home. This has proven to be very beneficial in some specific cases of pups that need more socializing or some rehabilitation when they go into a foster home and then come out ready to go as a brand new doggy perfect for just about any home life! We currently serve all of the DFW metroplex and are willing to make the drive to save a life and for adopting homes!
Additional adoption info
***PLEASE EMAIL OR TEXT. Phone calls have become so frequent that it is difficult for me to get to all of them.***
Our adoption process is simple but thorough. Each adoption fee is different depending on the size and breed of the dog but TYPICALLY small dogs are $150 and large dogs are between $175 and $215. This adoption fee includes: basic exam, vaccinations, heartworm test, some dogs come with a microchip, spay/neuter, collar, leash, bag of dog food, bowls and treats!
To meet a dog, we will meet in a public area where you will determine if you are still interested in the dog. From there, you will fill out an adoption application and then we will do a home visit. If the home visit goes well and you are happy with us and vice versa, the pup becomes your new companion! You will then have a 30 day trial period in which you may return the dog if the situation does not pan out. Though not one of my dogs has been returned yet because the adoption process typically determines quickly if it is a permanent match or not.
