Founded in 2009, the primary goal of Spay Neuter Kingston Initiative is to promote the opening of a high-volume, reduced cost, spay/neuter clinic (based on the highly effective Humane Alliance model) open to all members of the public, regardless of demographics or income. Pet overpopulation, particularly cats, is a major problem.
Spay Neuter Kingston Initiative is 100% volunteer based. We have a T/N/V/R Program (Trap/Neuter/Vaccinate/Return); a cat adoption program (Kitty Connections); a dog program (K9 Connections - aimed at keeping dogs in their current homes) and a "Meet Your Match" program for dogs - which utilizes networking to pair dogs with interested adopters.
Our goal: "To facilitate ways to reduce and eventually eradicate pet overpopulation". Everything we do is to further that objective.

Additional adoption info
We have a very thorough adoption process. The majorty of our cats/kittens come from our "managed" community cat colonies. We place based on the unique needs of each cat or kitten and those of the individuals looking to adopt.
Our standard adoption fee is $150.00 which varies depending on the age of the cat or kitten. This adoption fee includes initial vet exam, vaccinations, treatment for internal and external parasites, spay/neuter, microchipping and 6 weeks of Shelter Pet Insurance.
The process begins with an Adoption Application, telephone interview, home visit at discretion of the Cat Foster/Adoption Co-ordinator; signing of Adoptoin Agreement.
