I have been rescuing animals and finding them homes since I was a young child. It was something my mom taught me, and we both have a great love for all animals. Since college, I have been rescuing animals on my own. I kept most of them. However, I began running out of room, yet still wanting to do more. I then started searching for people who were fit and willing to adopt the animals I had rescued.
I have rescued animals from many various situations: pet stores, puppy mills, high-kill shelters, abandoned animals, special needs animals, and owner surrenders. If an animal is lost, I do my best to locate the owner. If abused or neglected, I provide food, shelter, healthcare, and medicine if necessary.
I am a social worker who has worked in Foster Care and Adoption. Recently, I have become disabled and can no longer work. Although I miss working with children, this opportunity gives me more time to focus on my animal rescue efforts.
I am just in the beginning stages of networking in order to expand my efforts, as well as working on partnerships with other agencies, veterinary clinics, and shelters to ensure the health and safety of all rescued animals. I am open to any suggestions or advice from fellow animal lovers!
I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education (with 5 minors), as well as a Master's degree in Family Life Education. Before I became a social worker, I was a teacher. Education is VERY important to me, and I bring that with me through my organization. What I do is not just about rescuing animals, rehabilitating them, and finding them loving homes; education about animal cruelty and proper care is crucial.
