Desert Labrador Retriever Rescue

Dog rescue in Phoenix, AZ

Here is our mission statement from our website:
Desert Labrador Retriever Rescue of Phoenix (DLRR) is a non-profit, all volunteer organization dedicated to finding loving, life-long homes for displaced Labrador Retrievers. In addition to rescue, our volunteers provide medical care and/or rehabilitation for these dogs and then attempt to match them with appropriate, permanent homes. We also provide Labrador Retriever breed and training information on request. Through public education, we strive to help eliminate animal overpopulation by encouraging the spaying and neutering of pets.

Rescue FAQs

We serve the entire state of Arizona. Please note that we can only adopt to people residing in Arizona or who spend a good portion of the year in Arizona.

Additional adoption info

Every potential adopter (who must live in Arizona) must fill out an online form and pay a small fee. A volunteer will contact the potential adopter and schedule a home visit. If everything looks good at the home visit, the potential adopter begins to receive our Dogalog twice a week that shows all available dogs. If a potential adopter is interested in a particular dog, he or she contacts the volunteer listed for that particular dog and arranges a time to meet the dog. If it is a potential match, we ask the adopter to think about it for about 24 hours. There is a fee to adopt one of our dogs and it is based on the dog's age, with younger dogs having a larger fee than our older labs. There is a contract to be signed.
