Akita Advocates has been saving the Akita breed for 10 years and we have place hundreds of dogs in new, loving homes. We save dogs from the county shelter and also take dogs from owners who need to find them new homes (as space permits). All dogs are neutered or spayed, have microchips, their Rabies and other vaccines along with a county license. All our volunteers personally have Akitas and have owned the breed for many years. We are an approved rescue with the Akita Club of America, and are a non-profit 501c3 organization.

Additional adoption info
We like to know a little bit about the home where we will be placing a dog, so we ask you to fill out an adoption application, we will do a home visit to inspect the fencing in the yard (to be sure the dog will not get out and become a stray again), and we would like you to meet as many of our dogs as possible to find the best fit for you and them. Our adoption fees decline as dogs get older, so a dog from 1-4 years old is $325 down to $225 if the dog is over 8 yrs old. When you call our message line, please leave a detailed message and a volunteer will get back to you on the same day.
