A little about our founders ~
Hello my name is Deena and I live in Oshawa, Ontario with my husband Norm and step daughter Amber. Along with our 4 rescue dogs and rescue cat. My parents were forever hearing plea’s from me as a child.. ” can’t we just bring this Bird, Cat, Dog frog etc.. home??? ” When I went away to school it wasn’t long before I rescued my first dog. Lola was the first of many.
When I moved out to British Columbia I found myself working at a boarding facility for dogs. Here I learned how to deal with various personality issues that arose in stressful situations. I also learned then that I would always be working or at least have my hand in the dog world. I dabbled in showing dogs for a short time, enjoyed it but found there was a lot of drama in that venue.
I started volunteering / fostering after I lost one of my canine soul mates to cancer in 2011. After having countless dogs through our house as a temporary foster, overnighting for transport or long term foster I realized I wanted to do MORE.
This is when I co-founded Save My Tail with a special like minded soul. We pull dogs from shelters where their days may be numbered, we put them into a loving foster home, ensure their vetting is up to date and find then LOVING FOREVER homes.
As heart wrenching as dog rescue can be, it is equalling rewarding when you see the smile of a child or adult open their heart and home to a dog in need. Our mission is to keep as many tails wagging as possible!! I am very proud to be a part of this wonderful team!!

Miranda Lives with her husband Marc and 2 children, Joshua and Isabella on their family farm in Warsaw Ontario.
Miranda has always had a soft spot for animals, saving and bringing home strays and injured animals as a young child. Into her later years Miranda developed a career with animals ~ horses in particular and is passionate about teaching others while nurturing the true bond between horse and rider.
Miranda became involved with dog rescue specifically in 2011 through a fellow horse and avid dog rescuer. After fostering multiple dogs Miranda decided to dedicate even more heart and soul to the rescue and became one of the founding members of Save My Tail.
Since then she has been involved in organizing, fostering, transportation of rescue dogs and much more!! Looking into those thankful eyes after rescuing a dog from their “final days” at high kill shelters is what makes it all worth while!
