Caring for Canines

Dog rescue in Phoenix, AZ

Mission Statement : To rescue dogs that are unwanted, helpless, overlooked or turned away because of their breed, color, nationality or age
We rescue the dogs that no one else wants.

Whether left to die in the local shelter or starving and homeless on the streets, we take them in, provide them with medical care, spay and neuter services, micro-chips, vaccinations and behavioral training. After careful screening of the potential new family, we attempt to adopt the dogs to the best home possible.

Rescue FAQs

We not only take dogs from across the street but also from streets across the border. We help dogs of all breeds, nationalities, color and age. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing homeless dogs and ensuring that they are placed in loving, caring homes. Dogs are rescued both from the euthanasia list at animal shelters and from people who are no longer able to care for their animals.

Most of our dogs come from different shelters throughout Arizona including White Mountain Humane Society, Pet Allies in Northern Arizona, Maricopa County Animal Care and Control and owner surrenders or turn-ins.

Additional adoption info

Caring for Canines does have an adoption fee for pets to help us rescue more in the future. Since all of our dogs are spayed/neutered, have their shots, are micro-chipped, vet checked and been through behavior training, our adoption fee will enable us to reimburse some of these costs. Dogs vary according to age, health condition and other variables but will range from $50 to $500.

We have a standard contract that will need to be filled out at the time of adoption and which requires the adopter to commit to proper care of the pet.

We will also spend some time before adoption either when you are visiting the dog or on the phone ahead of time, talking to you about the dog as well as how it might fit into your household. We just want to be sure the dog and you are happy!
