The SPCA of Northeastern N.C. is a 501c3 organization that operates the local animal Shelter. We strive to provide a loving environment, food, shelter and temporary housing for all lost, stray or unwanted domestic animals from Elizabeth City, Pasquotank and Camden Counties. Our Staff and volunteers work hard to find loving homes for our Shelter Pets. We provide programs to help area residents with the spay/neuter of their pets.

Shelter FAQs

The SPCA of Northeastern N.C. contracts with Pasquotank County, Camden County and Elizabeth City to operate the local Animal Shelter. We are required to accept animals from the three municipalities.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process is pretty simple. Anyone interested in adopting one of our Shelter Pets, first fills out an adoption application. If you are unable to visit the Shelter, you can either call the Shelter (252-338-5222) or email us (spcaofnenc@gamil.com) to request an application be emailed or faxed to you, Applications are usually approved the same day, allowing the visitor to the Shelter to leave with their chosen Shelter Pet.
The approved applicant signs our adoption contract.

Our adoption fees are as follows:
Dogs Adult: $90.00
Puppies -under 5 months: $130
Cats $50.00
Kittens -under 5 months: $65
The adoption includes the following -
Spay/Neuter at the clinic with whom we contract
Age appropriate Vaccinations (including rabies)
Heartworm testing (for dogs who are of age)
Deworming
Microchipping
Collar and SPCA ID Tag and Microchip Tag
30 days FREE pet insurance through Shelter Care
