Rescue FAQs

With the large number of homeless Maltese and Maltese mix dogs in Southern California, Maltese Rescue predominately accepts dogs in this geographical area. Our dogs come from shelters and owners unable to care for their Maltese.

Additional adoption info

Every rescue dog is examined by a veterinarian, neutered or spayed if intact, vaccines provided, a microchip inserted, and dental care provided, if needed. All Maltese Rescue dogs are provided loving care in preapproved foster homes to help the rescue dog with socialization and training.
When a rescue Maltese is ready adoption, each dog is listed on www.petfinder.com and www.adopt-a-pet.com

Prospective adoptive persons are required to submit an adoption application, undergo a personal interview, supply references, and complete a home evaluation to determine if the home provides a safe environment for a Maltese prior to approving an adoption.

An adoption fee is paid at the time of adoption. Adoption fees and donations are the sole financial source for payment of medical care for all of our rescue dogs.
