Pugs U Gotta Save ( P.U.G.S. ) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to rescue and tending to the needs of abandoned and surrendered Pugs in Virginia! P.U.G.S. fosters abandoned and surrendered Pugs from animal shelters, puppy mills and from owners unable to continue caring for their dog. Our ultimate goal is to permanently place homeless pugs into forever homes with loving families. While in our care, we provide our Pugs with a loving foster home, address the Pug's medical needs and provide any behavioral training needed to ensure that our dogs will transition well into their new forever homes. We also offer public education on the Pug breed and on the unique responsibilities of Pug ownership.
As we are a new organization, our current focus is on developing the infrastructure of our rescue organization so we can better serve the needs of the Pugs entrusted to our care. Our critical needs are for volunteers and donations (many received through events) to support the dog's needs and to provide veterinary care for our Pugs. No matter how much or how little time you have to offer, we have a volunteer job for you! Volunteering for a rescue is a wonderful way to enjoy the Pug breed, to make a difference in the life of an animal and to make new friends. Please contact us to learn more about the ways you can help!
Adopting a rescued Pug is a wonderful way to support the breed and to give a good home to a deserving Pug in need. Most rescued Pugs are healthy, happy, well adjusted dogs who just need a committed, loving and responsible owner. If you are interested in adopting a Pug, please contact us for more information. Our adoption fees are reasonable and we provide adoption counseling to ensure that you are matched with a Pug who meets the needs of your home environment. Please don't discount the love and satisfaction that a rescued Pug can offer you and your family! Take a few moments to contact us to learn about the rescue experience before you buy from a breeder or a pet store. You might be surprised how many great little Pugs just need a second chance.

We easily serve the state of Virginia or at least the southeast part of it. Areas outside of this become more difficult as we must request the help and assistance of other volunteers in other rescue organizations for the home visit and to possibily help with meet and greets.
Additional adoption info
In the adoption process, you can submit an application at http://adopt.pugsugottasave.org, which will be processed by one of our unpaid volunteers and includes a reference check. After the initial review, then a home visit will be performed possibly with the dog identified in your application. In cases where the dog of identified does not attend the initial home visit than we ask for a meet and greet to ensure all family members are amenable to the potential new family member.
We keep our fees updated in our Frequently Asked Questions area: http://faq.pugsugottasave.org
If; however, you simply wish to help us help pugs, then donations are accepted at http://donate.pugsugottasave.org.
