We are a humane society that was established in 1982. For quite some time we have worked without a physical facility doing neglect, cruelty investigations and follow-ups, as well as rescue and adoptions from the county shelter and directly from the community. We work with a humane society in New Hampshire and transport dogs there several times per year in addition to doing local adoptions. We have just finished building a small shelter/spay neuter clinic. We are located in an area that has a high-kill county shelter and believe that the only long term solution is to promote spaying and neutering in every way possible.

Additional adoption info
Our adoption application is online and is required. You may fill out an application here: http://www.gatewayareahumane.com/adopt-form.html. We require a vet reference that can be verified. Large dogs must be going to a home with a fenced yard or on a farm not close to a highway. Contract requires that the animal be returned to us if the adopter cannot keep or does not want to keep the animal. Adoption fees vary.
