Additional adoption info

Thank you for your interest in adopting a rescue pet from the Louisiana SPCA! Every animal that adopts a human is spayed or neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped and heartworm tested. Each adoption also includes a bag of Hill’s Science Diet food and dogs receive a discount on our training classes.

Adoption Process
Please know that our adoptions are done on a first-come, first-serve, basis and we do not place holds on animals. During your visit we will talk with you about the animals you’re interested in and find the best match for you and your family. Once a match is made you can take your new pet home!

If you’re unsure about an animal being a perfect fit try our sleep over option ($25 donation) where you can bring an animal home for 72-hours to make sure it’s a great match. If not, you can bring them back and select another available animal.

Please be aware that we have the right to deny an adoption if we feel it is not in the best interest of our animal. If during the first 2 weeks after adopting you feel like the animal is not working out, you can return that animal to the Louisiana SPCA and select a new animal without paying a second adoption fee.

Kittens grow up best when they have a friend to play with! Adopt two kittens and we’ll reduce the second adoption fee by 50%!

Senior Citizens ages 65-years-old and up can adopt a senior pet ages 6-years-old and up for just $25!
