Washington Metropolitan Area Ferret Outreach

Animal rescue in Sykesville, MD

Founded in 2010, WMAFO is a foster-based rescue and network of ferret enthusiasts in the Washington, DC metro area.
WMAFO helps ferrets find easily manipulated humans to provide forever homes to ferrets who will wiggle into the hearts of their human servants.
Likewise we provide support and educational resources to humans who have already provided homes to ferrets.
By providing forever homes and ongoing support to ferrets and their humans we hope to bring love and happiness into each life.

One of the main goals of WMAFO is to find forever homes for the ferrets in our care. We aim to place our ferrets in loving homes where they will recieve proper care and attention. We are happy to adopt to new and existing ferret owners as long as the homes meet a few simple criteria.

Some of the things we look for in forever homes are:

Basic knowledge of proper ferret care, nutrition and health
A stable and safe home environment
Willingness to stay current on new developments in ferret health and wellness
An ability to provide adequate food and medical care for a ferret for the entirity of their life
A love and respect for ferrets in all of their stages, from playful kit to cuddly old weasel
We reserve the right to deny adoption to any applicant without reason.

Adoption Fees

Under 3: $150

3-4 years old: $100

5 and older: negotiable

Please note that adoption fees are not tax deductable, although any donation you choose to make in addition to the adoption fee is greatly appreciated and we are happy to give you a tax receipt for your donation.
