Sugarland Ranch, Inc.

Dog rescue in Reno, NV

Sugarland Ranch was established in 2001 & received permanent status as a 501(c)3 organization in 2005. It was founded by Robyn Roth and Mack McKinley who remain as its Directors. Our Mission is simple, to enhance and promote the human-animal bond through our programs. Our foundation program and remains so is Mastiff rescue. Sugarland is a relatively small program, our adoption program is considered locally to be one of the most stringent however, our track record is excellent given that a lot of work is done in screening and interviewing up front to ensure that it is the right match especially given the type of giant breed dog that we have in our program. Sugarland has an excellent reputation locally particularly in the area of rehabilitation and accepting very challenging dogs with medical/rehab problems & providing the best of care during their stay with us which is typically quite long while the most appropriate home is found More can be read "about us" on our website: www.sugarlanranch.org

Rescue FAQs

Sugarland Ranch, a non-profit, no-kill private animal sanctuary, serves Reno/Sparks, Nevada. We have a boarding program open to the public for their companion pets as well as several non-profit programs one of which is Mastiff rescue.

Additional adoption info

A Family Profile/Application is required to ensure the best possible match. Only local adoptions will be considered which translates to no more than a hour driving time from the sanctuary. Multiple home visits are done for initial screening purposes & subsequent visits to optimize the transition process for the dog and new family. For purebred Mastiffs, we ask for a $350 adoption fee of which all proceeds are directly applied to our animals, typically veterinary care. There are other requirements for continued pet insurance coverage & that the successful applicant have experience with the guardian breeds, specifically Mastiffs. In addition to the initial application, there is also an adoption contract that is required when the adoption is completed.
