Fuzzy Face Rescue

Dog rescue in Lyme, CT

Fuzzy Face Rescue is an organization comprised of a very small group of volunteers . We are not a shelter and do not have a facility. Dogs in our care are placed in foster homes where they receive vet care as appropriate and socialization until they are adopted. We strive to find the best match between families and dogs in our care. Most of the dogs we rescue are from shelters with high rates of euthanasia. We do not profit financially from rescuing dogs in danger. We support shelters and frustrated families by being a resource for training, veterinary help or rescue contacts. Spay/neuter is the only way to solve the pet-overpopulation problem; millions of cats and dogs are killed every year because there are just not enough homes for them. Our focus is small, medium and large fluffy, shaggy, fuzzy and scruffy dogs, ranging from westies, scotties, cairns (and mixes thereof), collie mixes, airedale & wheaten terrier mixes, schnauzer mixes, bearded coliie mixes, sheepdogs, labradoodles, to great pyrenees!

Additional adoption info

Please contact us for an adoption application. Our adoption fee is generally $275 to $300, depending on costs incurred to rescue. There has been a substantial increase in the cost to rescue, due to the new CT Department of Agriculture regulations enacted in October of 2011. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Dogs available for adoption deserve loving, permanent homes. Anyone interested in adopting a dog from FFR must fill out an application and be approved for adoption. The approval process includes an adoption application, reference checks, home visit and adoption contract. We prefer to adopt to people who are located within a 1.5 hours driving distance from the 06417 zip code. Please visit www.mapquest.com to see if your location qualifies. Exceptions are occasionally made if I have a good rescue friend who lives nearby your location who'd be able to complete the home visit (NY, NJ, VT, NH, ME, RI)
Since we have no facility, we require that potential adopters have an approved application before meeting our dogs. Submitting an application does not guarantee you will receive a rescued dog. PLEASE note: If your application has not been approved you may not receive a response as we may not always have the time to get back to everyone who applies for our dogs. We do not have a sufficient number of rescue dogs to place one with each applicant that applies and must be very selective in their placement to assure they are in their adoptive homes for the remainder of their lifetimes. The dogs deserve this. Please understand that we have very few volunteers and usually do not have time to answer general questions that can be answered by reading the information on this page or on the specific dog's listing. We ask all adopters to be prepared to take their new family member home at the time the adoption is completed. We cannot hold your pet for you while you go on vacation or prepare the house for your new family member, etc. This should be done before you apply to adopt a dog. Please understand that if we held dogs, a dog who might otherwise be rescued by us may be euthanized in a shelter waiting for an opening in our rescue.

We are not paid for the work we do. We are not paid to foster dogs. There is no financial profit. It is a labor of love.
