Today, in modest facilities, the Humane Society shelters more than 8,000 animals each year, connects some of those animals with their owners, adopts out some with rescue partners. Unfortunately, the rest must be humanely euthanized. Located at 1392 NW Shelter Glen, behind the Challenge Learning Center, the Margaret Smith Adoption and Education Center of the Lake City Humane Society houses many different companion animals, all available for adoption into a new forever home. We offer many services including low cost spay/neuter resources, pet-assisted therapy visitation, dog training and pet care seminars.
