South Jersey Boxer Rescue

Dog rescue in Pilesgrove, NJ

South Jersey Boxer Rescue was formed in the summer of 2010. We are a non profit all volunteer, 501C3 organization devoted to rescuing boxers in need, and educating the public in responsible dog ownership. We do not have an actual facility. We utilize a foster home system.

Our organization is comprised of trained volunteers with many years of boxer rescue experience, who know and love the breed. We are most importantly also boxer owners who know and love this very special breed of dogs.

Our boxers are brought into our rescue from shelters, owners surrendering due to inability to care for their dogs for a variety of reasons, or sometimes emergency situations.

While in our rescue the boxers are given the necessary veterinary care, anything from basic shots, heartworm testing and treatment, spay and neuter, to more detailed advance medical needs. While in our foster program, trained volunteers get to personally know the dogs, so we can provide the best match for the new owner and rescued boxer.

All adoptive homes require a home visit form a SJBR volunteer so that the dogs are certain to be placed with an owner who is capable of their needs.

We serve the south Jersey and Jersey shore area, as well as parts of central Jersey, and south eastern Pennsylvania.

Additional adoption info

I am interested in adopting a dog who do I contact?

The first step involves filling out an adoption application on our website. Then one of our trained volunteers will do a home visit at your home. The reason for this is so that we match the best possible dog with the owner. Please be patient, as we assign the applications to volunteers near your home and get there as quickly as we are physically able.

Where do I go to see the dogs once I am an approved home? Who do I contact?

Once you are an approved home you may feel free to contact any of the available dog’s human contacts directly via email by their picture. They will be able to tell you more details about a particular dog. We do not have a physical facility. Our boxers are given the necessary medical attention at a rescue Vets office, and then placed into a foster home program. This is so that we may get as much information about our dogs as possible prior to adoption, and the best possible match can be made for the dogs and their new forever homes.

Why is there an adoption fee? These are rescue dogs.

The adoption fee helps us to pay for the necessary medical care and sometimes necessary training for the dogs. Some dogs have significant medical bills upwards of $1000 or more in order to get them back on track. Most all of them need spay, neuters, heart worm testing, and all shots. The adoption fee doesn’t even begin to cover the costs. We rely on donations and fundraisers in order to stay operational. If you bought a puppy it would easily cost $800, and that is before any vetting has been done. Rescuing a dog is a rewarding experience, and you are giving a dog a second chance at life.
